Not to be mean, but if bad singers had deities, they most probably would be my parents. hahaha I'm sorry but i think my parents can't really sing. My mum can sing marginally better than my dad. Okay lah it wasn't totally horrendous.
"The birthday buns", they call it. hahah our first dish arrived after a long wait... and boy did everyone gobble them down. hahah the funny thing was, there was the HUGE version of the birthday bun especially for my dad. hahah all of us, found it so amusing and had a fun time playing aroung with it... even sherms and i took a whack at it. hahahha. (btw, doesn't sherms look sweet in that pic? she can look quite good while playing with a bun, can't she? hahaha sounds wrong)
Think this must have been the favourite dish for sherms and i: Peking duck skin in crepe . Yummy with a capital Y, U, M, M, and Y. hahah. tasted really good with the special sauce too!
I admired Sherm's mum for having the courage to kick start the atmosphere by singing beautifully a japanese song. She really got the ball rolling.... and she can really sing. haha.
I think, based on the very few good singers we noticed that day, O levels should include "Singing" as one of the COMPULSORY subjects. We could really do with more good singers. hahaha.
There you go... the birthday BOY. 6 big candles. one huge cake.
We went round to every table for a 'yam seng' session. hahaha as though my dad was getting married again! CHOY! anyway see my cousin niece in that pic? SOOOOo adorable!!! she was covering her poor little ears that were probably jarred from the very loud cheering @ the table...
Gratification: As i drove my parents us home after the whole event, my mum asked my dad if he was happy... my dad replied with a resounding "YES". I dunno if that was authentic cos he was rather tipsy haha... but i'm pretty sure he meant it. and to me, that's all that matters.
Happy Birthday, Daddy. Love ya.
