The aftermath...

Well it's been a full 2 days since the last performance of Lao Jiu. It's funny how i'm missing it pretty much too. I've been talking to some of the casts on MSN... they said they miss the rehearsals and the other friends in the cast. Well i know exactly how that feels. What i didn't expect is how much i miss THIS cast, and crew too. While i made my way home on the last day, i felt a certain amount of emptiness. Didn't really spend a lot of time with them... but i guess for whatever time i DID spend, it was fun. I hope i'll be seeing these guys more often from now on.
Wah i'm really 'emo' man. Think i'm high on assignments and project preparation. Yeap it's back to my mundane life as a student. YAHOOOOO! yeah, right. It's been sooooo stressing for me. so much so that i had to pull out of rehearsals with Hey Be HIAm (before u guys think i'm having some fetish with prawn paste, HBH is a band. although having a fetish with prawn paste would add 'flavour' to my life... pardon the pun. Muahahha). I'm truly sorry to the band members... promise i'll bounce back as quickly as i can.

Anyways looking back to the days of Lao Jiu, i really wanna thank the cast and crew and committee for being such a wondeful bunch. Special applause to Diana... I'm still a bigger fan of you than your sister. In fact from now on, when i see you around school, i'll blow air into your face... to remind you i'm a fan. (Get it? Muahahaha!!)

Saturday Night Fever

With most of the nerves settled after the 1st night's performance, the cast and crew were geared up for tonight's performance! As far as i'm concerned, they delivered the goods. The crowd loved it!

Problem was that the crowd was laughing at very weird points in the show. Like when the father shouts "Excuse me, Junior Warhorse"... the crowd laughs. Alamak. Although i COULD point my finger to a few of my friends who definitely laughed... (yes David Naidu, one of them is you) but i guess i can understand why it's funny. Didn't think any girl would have a title such as "Junior Warhorse".. just sounds wrong.

But my favourite part of the entire night? going out to FOH and meeting all the old friends... gosh it's so nice to see you guys... David, Jeremy, Faizal, Zhirong, Shumei, Adrianna, Cheryl, Wen, Grace, shixing, faizah, etc... Only after chatting with u guys that i realised how MUCH i miss all of you. U guys made my night. thanks!

Oh the cast and crew had supper as well! guess things must be going pretty well then. hahaha. I can also tell that the general mood of the cast got better since last night. Am very glad for them.



Gambling resumed as usual... only interesting is that they used polo mint sweets that Uncle Andrew gave to the cast as gambling chips. hahaha

The torture beyond: After a draining performance, the cast were made to smile after being force-fed hokkien mee, kway teow and bottles of beer.

Virginities broken.

And so it is. The cast (well most of them anyway) finally had their 'theatre hymen' broken tonight...haha. They've experienced 1st hand how freaking scary it is to perform in front of so many people... people who have paid for the show and thus have every right to feel pissed if the show sucked. Well thank God it didn't.

Neither was it absolutely mind-blowing which, to be honest, does not do justice to their potential. They were meant for so much more. In retrospect, their performance tonight was a notch down from yesterday's full run. Why? like i said... they were nervous. I remember my 1st time too. Boy was i nervous. But it only got better. 2nd night onwards i was in full gear, and i'm sure they will be too.


Well guys... i'm still freakin proud of ya'll. For students (not paid, not artistes) to achieve such a standard is impressive, to say the least. And it's ONLY the 1st night.

I had a great time up there on stage though. Margaret and Louis called me a 'stage-whore'... but hey when i'm cornered up against a dead-end, i WILL fight back! 40 seconds on stage? i'll milk every f**king second. Hahaha. Jokes aside, i really had so much fun... with the cast as well.

Answer: Cos we're cala-fair!! muahahha. ok this one's just stupid. that's cos i was really bored sitting in the dressing room. God forbid i ever have to be this bored again.

The 40 seconds of fame...

Haha this is an update on my role in the upcoming annual production "Lao Jiu". I'm gonna have a 100% increase in stage time, with 300% increase in number of lines! hahaha Apparently now i must stay on stage, confront the ' policemen' and say these lines... before exiting stage.
"Si mi?? Ai pa??" (what? wanna fight?)
"Lan Jiao ah!" (Penis ah!)
" Ler heng ah!" (Count yourself lucky!)

Hahha hilarious. Margaret gave me the green light to use the word Lan Jiao... and now it's become my favourite (and loudest) line in the whole play! woohooo!!

On a more serious note.... I truly truly enjoyed the cast's performance today. It was such a joy to watch! Am so proud of them, and am a bit jealous that i'm not really IN the play. hahah but this is great enough. Well i shan't speak too soon, i'll wait for tmr's performance before blogging in more detail abt some of the individual cast members. All i can say now is that i'm VERY proud of Diana, Jeremy and Shan Bing. Sherms and i agreed on our favourite actor/actress... but i shan't reveal it... not just yet.

Tmr's the big day... and i sincerely pray for the cast, the crew (the unsung heores)... as well as those who have helped us, that the play will be successful... they deserve nothing less.

Ah... life is but a game...of CRANIUM! Woohooo!

Had Malik, Charlene and Chao over at my house today for some delectable pizzas (cheerios to Canadian!) and some much-awaited Mahjong... After a few rounds (the last being the one i FINALLY won), we moved on to play cranium. for those of you don't know how to play the game, it's like pictionary, charades, trivia and er... er.. some word game all rolled into one. absolutely addictive, and packed with loads of fun.

what's easier than child's play? it's 'Chao Clay!' muahahaha

there was one particular challenge that Malik and Chao had to guess which of the phrases was a "iambic pentameter". i was like, WHUD??? u could only imagine how THEY were feeling. Linguists, we are not. hahah. Might as well ask us what is a "innoctural hypergulfanker". Actually i have no idea what the hell i just typed. hahahaha.

Haha we have found a new activity to add to our collection! which currently consists of mahjong, pool and movies!!! hahaha awesome. Oh anyway i wanna go watch transformers man.
