Another Chapter Closes...

What a bittersweet evening it was... the 28th February will be one night i'll remember for a very long time to come.

twas my very last gig for SMU. SMU, the place where i found my element, where i found my passion for hosting... where i found my calling in life. Of all the shows i've done for SMU, this one couldn't have been more appropriate for a finale - It was for Caderas Latinas... the club i adore so much. I've never been a member of the club, but i love the people there, and the family spirit they have. It's really heartwarming. And i've always had fun hosting for them anyways. On top of that, it was a big event... with the kinda crowd an emcee could only dream of. The stage was set... so to speak. it was showtime. It was time for Latin Festival 2008, Bailamos en la calle!

I had the time of my life! the performances were breathtaking! the performers were hotter than jessica alba in an oven! the crowd was in full volume... the games were a crowd-pleaser... everything was perfect. And most of all, i was in my element. I loved the autonomy the organising comm gave me... Thus, i really let loose and gave it my all.

I received a few compliments about my performance... and i would like to sincerely thank all who have given them to me. You have no idea how much it means to me, especially since i want to make this my career... thank you guys sooo much. I would especially like to thank Corina for helping me out and for being such a great programs director, and of cos Huiyi... for being the BEST emcee liasion i could ask for! Last but never least, my darling Shermeen... your presence and support was all i needed to get by...

I'm very proud of SMU Caderas Latinas. They really made this kickass event a real success! You should have seen the jam packed crowd! it was like, a record attendance at DXO, ever! I was perspiring sooo much cos there was just too many people! hahaha

Alas, that was how it all ended for me. I won't be emceeing any more SMU events anymore (at least as a student)...what a way to conclude a chapter of my life. somehow that wrings my heart a little. I'm gonna miss it... i know i will, someday.

on a side note: shermeen and i have successfully completed creating this video for a client... he needed a video to show HIS clients the entire process of his job.... but with a little tongue-in-cheek... hehehe.

Of hits and misses!

GOALLLLL!!!!! those were the screams during our little supper at Simpang Bedok as we were treated to a lovely Man U performance, who trashed Newcastle 5 - 1. Delicious food, nice spicy BBQ stingray, some tea and 'ice limau ice limau ice', some quirky moments and a big serving of friendship! i really love supper time. it's a great time to relax and chat about life...

and of cos there's always time for funny photos!!

In this photo, i was doing my impression of one of the dishes one the menu. and the one i chose was "Old Timer Fish & Chips". yeah baby.... i think i pretty much nailed it! hhehee

Right. In this one, we were assigned different numbers, and we were supposed to show it in our own style. hehehe. yeap... our brain degenerated as we descended later into the night...

Oh and speaking of photos, earlier in the day i tried my hand at photography! Used Elvin's Digital SLR... hahaha well all i can say is that i have better talents in other areas. hahaha

Huixin decided to live up to her reputation after being voted best dressed frujchaholic... showcasing the latest addition to her wardrobe: A trash bag.

Played soccer on sunday morn, after a LOOOONG break from it (since tennis and badminton occupied my weekends). It was a great feeling again... had so much laughter round the court. BUT as usual, my terrible physical fitness was revealed as i had to bail out towards the end, suffering from a cramped calf. hahaha.
And on this glorious return to soccer-dom, i was showered with gifts!! Like a nasty collision that left a bump on my head, and a soccer ball rammed right into my face. hhahaha ahhhhhh good times....~

GOOD NEWS! I'm gonna be an uncle!!! My eldest brother revealed that my sis-in-law is pregnant!!! wheee! I should be an uncle by october or november this year! AND MORE GOOD NEWS! my 2nd brother also announced that he's planning to get married in december! Woohooo! Double Happiness, so they say. hahaha. This really is the year where everything changes.

Well... the week ahead is going to be very tough for me. i just hope it all goes well. Sigh. i dunno what else to say abt it, except it's the one thing that's weighing my mood down... despite such an eventful weekend.

PS: A big 'konichiwa' to mellies! hope ure having fun in Japan! Sugoiiiiii!

This Wacky World~

I would usually read out these stories on my radio show "This Wacky World" on SMU campus Radio, but since i'm not with them no more, i guess this is where i could share the stories with you guys:

This story further proves my theory that a man is most vulnerable and agitated when taking a piss. PLEASE don't even try talking to a guy who's pissing.

Man punched over urinal etiquette

A New Zealander ended up in court after punching a man over a breach of urinal etiquette.

Edward Aldridge, 47, punched his victim twice after he used the urinal next to him in a pub in Christchurch.

Aldridge accused his victim of looking at him, reports Metro.

Speaking in his defence, counsel Liz Bulger said: "This incident arose from what I understand to be urinal etiquette.

"When the victim spoke to the defendant he was effectively smirking. The defendant was outraged."

Sentencing Aldridge to 50 hours of community service, Judge Raoul Neave said: "This is exactly the sort of behaviour that makes people afraid to go to town."

And this is for you ladies out there~ *wink*

High heels 'improve sex life'

Wearing higher heels may improve women's sex life, according to an Italian doctor.

Dr Maria Cerruto says 2ins high heels can help improve pelvic floor muscles, reports the BBC.

Dr Cerruto, a urologist and self-professed lover of high heels, set out to prove they were not as bad for women's health as some suggest.

Her study of 66 women under 50 found those who held their foot at a 15 degree angle to the ground - the equivalent of a two inch heel - had as good posture as those who wore flat shoes.

And, crucially, they showed less electrical activity in their pelvic muscles suggesting they were at an optimum position, which could improve their strength and ability to contract.

Pelvic floor muscles assist sexual performance and satisfaction, and also provide vital support to the pelvic organs, which include the bladder, bowels and uterus.

But they often weaken after pregnancy and childbirth, and as women get older.

Dr Cerruto said: "Women often have difficulty in carrying out the right exercises for the pelvic zone and wearing heels could be the solution.

"Like many women, I like high-heeled shoes," she added. "It's good to know they have potential health benefits."

After reading that, if any of you girls suddenly have the inspiration for getting high heels, lemme know! i've got a Pretty Fit discount card. (don't look at me like that. it's actually a beetle bug card too!)

and this is a story you can really sink ur teeth into:

Lawyer 'bit colleague's breast'

A Hungarian lawyer is facing court action after he bit a female colleague's breast at a civic dinner.

Laszlo Papp, 32, head lawyer for the Mayor's Office in Gyor, reportedly told attractive Imola Kovac, 26: "I don't fancy my chicken breast - I think I'll try yours instead."

The mayor described his lawyer's actions as a joke but Kovac did not see the funny side and has now launched legal action against him for sexual assault.

She said: "I am taking legal action because I do not think biting a colleague's breasts is appropriate behaviour for a civil servant."

Gee... you think? and this also reminds all you swimming coaches out there to not try to be funny when teaching your female students the "breast stroke".

CNY wrap up

Well well! CNY celebrations are almost over... and it's time to step back into the cruel realities of work/studies. However, i'm pretty sure the joy i've gotten from this year's CNY will linger on. Here's some of the things i'll never forget to remember not to forget...

1. i won't forget the long hours put into making our family's traditional snack: the 'Woo Har'. which sounds like "Oooooh Ahhhhhh" which is pretty much the kinda feeling it gives you when you eat it. hahah it's basically fried yam. but oooooohh, ahhhhhh, it tastes niceeeee

2. the crazy table tennis session on my round dining table. -->
(see previous post)

<-- 3. The time i made chloe wear an ang pao around her neck.

4. The round of "In-between" that my cousins and i played @ my eldest uncle's place, of which i earned $25!! woohooo heaven!! It was so intense, i almost bounced off the ceiling!!

5. I'll also never forget how charlene wiped us dry in Texas Hold'em. Made both me and zhichao bankrupt! She's the devil i swear!! hahah babe u shd really go buy 4D this year man. -->

6. how malik, chao, char and i had stitches just laughing at what english names to 'give' to her new bf. "I am... PAULLLLLLL!!!!!"

7. The tons of CNY goodies we ate. Gawd u have no idea. It's like a bad habit. The food's right infront of you... u just HAVE to take some every 3 seconds... u try to walk away from it, but there they are again! they're everywhere!!

Oh and once again i received comments from my auntie that i look rather japanese. muhahaha. i REALLy don't look local anymore. maybe i shd start learning jap so as to really fool ppl, in that case.

Other stuff i'm looking forward to still are Lou Hei... and Nian Gao (this brown sticky sweet thing fried with egg and sweet potato. it's life-changing... really) on the 7th day!! Let the fun never stop!! let the delicious goodies last us for a year!! (even when they're moldy and potentially poisonous!!) hahahhaa

Lee Family: The Reunion

Well it's that time of the year when chinese families all around the world gather @ home to have a hearty meal... it was no different for my family. And this was the year i told myself: i'm gonna help out with the preparation of the gargantuan feast. My mum has laboured long and hard enough for CNY preparations, and it's time I did my part too.

That's my mum... my hero. She's such a pillar in the family. Love her to bits. btw, can u believe she's 60 this year?!?! hahah oops. sorry mum. wasn't supposed to reveal ur age. hahah

Yes yes that's right... i was one of the chefs involved in making the feast that you see in the picture. Muahaha. Okay well, i did the chopping and stuff... and also the cooking of rice. But hey, at least that's something. My mum refused to let me cook... afterall, that IS her 'territory'.

The table was too crowded to fit in all the dishes, that my eldest bro even had to hold up one dish!! ahahaha Oh my dad. geez. I dunno lah, my brothers and i getting more frustrated at him. Everytime never help out, only know how to watch tv, complain here and there.... sigh. Actually, it's good that he didn't help out in the kitchen too. He'd make a mess of everything anyway.

And well my brothers and i got quite bored... so we do what wacky brothers do...

... We played table tennis on our ROUND dining table, with a stack of tissue paper as the 'net'. hahahaha. that was me having a mini-contest with my sis-in-law~ hehehe.

We also spent some time laughin over this video which is damn friggin hilarious. Thanks to melissa for forwarding me this video!! it's awesome!

Sigh i miss my gf very much. she's in JB now with her whole extended family. I'm just not used to celebrating a happy occassion w/o her. Well sweetie i hope everything's going fine~ can't wait till u get back~ =)

Happy New Year everyone!! May you have a RATtling time!!

Good ol times...

Woweee has it been THAT long since i last blogged?!! gosh! i'm ashamed. for those of you who have popped by in anticipation of a new entry for the past few weeks, pls accept my humble apologies. I think i've been too busy recently... Nonetheless, i'm back!!

and i mean that in the sense of having fully recovered from my perilous bout of chicken pox that almost turned me into a leopard. My friend asked me "so when did u run into the chicken?" and i replied "when it was crossing the road..." hur hur hur. fancy having lame humour when my body was attacked by the virus.

If you happen to get the chicken pox, and you suspect it's cos of your contact with me, i sincerely apologise... cos i honestly thought i fully recovered b4 i went back to school.

ANYWAYs i'm as good as new! woohoo~ let's see what other updates do i have... oh i'm finally resuming my emceeing jobs~ tt's great cos i'm running low on $$$ right now too. haha. need to spend on CNY clothes and also prepare for Valentine's day! arghhhh~!! i'm also back to playing tennis and exercising and all... i'm so glad i've been rather regular tennis sessions recently. i dunno how long will that last till the busy weeks come along. Hey if any of you wanna play tennis with me (besides my usual tennis khakis), please let me know!

while i was bogged down with chicken pox, nice friends of mine decided to recommend me videos to watch so that i'd feel better. currently i'm watching this korean drama called Witch Yoo-Hee. Nice show... but sometimes i wonder why they depict koreans as rude. I wonder if that's really so. haha anyways thanks Regina for recommending me this show!

Speaking of korean, before i cut my hair 2 days ago, some friends said that i look korean with my hair so long. hahaha do i really not look local at all?? Can i have a poll pls? hahha

One of the courses i'm taking, Science Exploration and society, required us to go to science centre for lab lessons! Just like back in sec school days! It was so fun!! In that lesson, we were on the topic of DNA and we were trying to see if we had a segment in our DNA known as Alu Polymorphism! A name so strange that even Gwyneth Paltrow would be jealous of.

To extract our DNA, we had to gurgle our mouths with salt water to get the cells. Unfortunately i was eating seaweed potato chips earlier... so i had some seaweed in my DNA sample. I was joking with my labmates that the analysis of my DNA would conclude that i'm half vegetable. Then i'll change my name: "My name is Lee. Brocco Lee..." muahahaha

Sherms and i were looking through some old cartoon videos we used to watch when we were little. I chanced upon my super ultra uber absolute favourite cartoon back when i was 7 yrs old. It's called Thundercats! any of u retro junkies heard about it before? here's a intro video to refresh ur memory...

Sigh... good ol times. now that i'm turning 25 this year, a part of me wants to go back to my childhood... when i was young, innocent, blur-looking, and slightly more flexible than now.

Woohoo CNY's round the corner and the house is busy with preparing a traditional family snack! usually my aunties make them, but this year, it's our turn! (yeah!!) and i'm gonna help out! (uh-oh) hahaha
