Las personas especial en mi viva...(part 3)

I wanna take this time to mention all (if not most) of the people who mean a lot to me, but because of my selfish dedication to my work, school and other things, was not able to meet up with them frequently. Firstly, i wanna say that you guys have a place in my heart and I cherish u guys very much. And next, i really am trying to pry myself away from my other commitments to catch up with u guys.

from SMUBE: Tennis khakis!! u guys really make my saturday mornings a great start to the weekend!! funny antics on the court, great lunch thereafter... man. if only i could have every morning like that.
LN, Melwyn, Flea, Wanida, Gayle, XP, Alvina, E-wan, Jeremy, Nina... You guys are the reason why i look forward to going to the BE room, going for BE chalets, or even going for meetings. You guys brighten up my life. heart-felt thanks also to team WAR!!!
Special Mention to Faizal! Thanks so much for helping me in so many ways, making me laugh... and for being a friend i can really bitch with. haha cheers!

the peeps from Anything Goes: Jeremy (we've been thru quite a bit bro), David, Zhirong (i could not have asked for a better partner), Cheryl, Louis (ure one wacko!), Wilson, Kevin, Val, Pat, and e-mixers like Niko, Jiahui(kaya), Sheryl, Dawn... I miss all of you.
Special mention to Nanas, i can't thank you enough for the care and support u've given me, esp during the Anything Goes musical. It meant a lot. Couldn't have done it w/o ya.
cast from The Sword: Tabby & Jeremy (u guys are just wonderful friends), Daphne (SO CUTE!), Tim and of cos Jason! I do see you guys around still, which i'm glad!
Other people from stage-it: Christina,
Pauline, Frank, Sheena, Jiawen (aka Mable. HHAHAHA)... thanks to you guys, i wasn't too nervous when i was preparing for the play. hahah

Glad to know a friend like you! Special mention to Grace... ure such an angel. Although that's funny cos I was UR 'angel'. hahah! But i really am so glad to be ur friend. =)

Frujch a.k.a Sherm's close friends: Who can forget the hot mamas whose milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard??? haha Shal, Nabs, and Sharyn... Thank you soooo much for frujch. Thanks for accepting me as part of the frujch family. Love u girls.

9V: Dearest Janet! thank you so so much for being such a great friend. and here's a shout-out to Liling, Jessie, Laoda, Yvette, Steph and Leelian who have made my working experience such a carnival!
And I MUST mention these 2: Genevieve Ann-Marie Lin Liting and 'Muscle-man' Mervyn Goh. I truly have so much fun with u guys that it's sinful! I always end up laughing so damn hard when joking with u guys...

One more special mention to Brigette. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for being you.

They say that the value of life is determined by what you make of it. I say it's partly true. Your value of your life is also sometimes dependent on the people who touch your heart. Thank you, my friends.

It's not "see you later"... ... it's "goodbye".

How many of you feel for our beloved National Stadium, now that it's gonna be demolished?

Well, i do. I remember it cos of the atmosphere that was once present there. Way back then, when S'pore Lions were still in the Malaysian Cup. Man, i was crazy about the players back then. Fandi, Abas Saad, Sundramoothy and gang. My fav player? Stephen Tan, the super-sub with blistering speed that can tear the opposition's defence apart. oh and David Lee, the formidable keeper who always gave the Lions hope with each brilliant save he pulls off. I remember the atmosphere back then. Everybody cheered in unison, screamed at the referee with the same menace, even jeered the opposition many a time. Such fun... and there'll be this person walking around selling stuff... "Coca-Cola, potato chips, nasi lemak!!"

The best thing? The 'kallang' wave need not be initiated by some screaming emcee on the pitch like how it's done at NDP. It happened spontaneously. Out of fun. Out of passion. Out of support.

I remember i went there once with my dad to watch a match. Somehow, the feeling i had after the match while we're having supper was very warm... Like the whole adventure of watching a S'pore Lions match brought me closer to my dad. It's unexplainable. But hell yeah i'd do anything to relive that kinda magic.

Well, don't think i'd be able to, though. With the emergence of a new sports hub in its place, so will a new sentiment. It won't be the same wooden, broken benches we'll be sitting on anymore. It won't be the same grass that great football players ran on... and i'm afraid that it won't be the same warm feeling anymore too.

Maybe... the change of the stadium... indicates something about S'pore. Maybe the change from a simple and cosy stadium into a state-of-the-art sports hub, is a symbolic representation of the changing culture of Singapore. I say that with deep sorrow. Let's just say I have observed that being a kid in S'pore ain't fun anymore.

Las personas especial en mi viva...(part 2)

The fantastic 4! haha! No that's not what we call ourselves cos that's not lame enough for the 4 of us. Well anyways the only girl in that photo is my 'sister' (not real one lah. It's cos her mum calls me 'son'. haha AND cos i see her as my sister too. haha). Her name's Princess Charlene. Hahaha well 'Princess' is just a title i give her cos she's really a xiao2 jie3. Lady-like and all. She can't be in the sun too long cos it's too hot for her (plus the sun will mutate her into a lobster within minutes)... and her room is PINK. No not the funky pink. BABY PINK. She loves pretty, girly stuff... aiyah. it's hard to explain. One needs to know her in order to fathom the extent of her lady-like nature. haha. but nonetheless, i love her alot. she's been a great friend to me and we've known each other for 11 years and counting. haha. Why do i love her? I have no idea. She's just love-able, maybe. Who ever said there needs to be a reason anyway? haha

Next to her is Zhichao. If there's one word i can use to describe him, it would be 'sincere'. I mean, look at that face of his! Even his face has "i'm a sincere guy" written all over it. hahaha He's not a guy who would try to be someone he's not. He's also very true to his friends. What more could i ask for of a good buddy? He's a great guy to have around cos he softens the atmosphere. He's also very smart... and always trashes us in pool. haha.

The one next to me is my great buddy, Malik! Anyone who knows him would know he's one CRAZY ass! Crazy with a capital C, R, A, Z and Y. haha he's something like me in that sense. Really plucking humour from the air in almost every sentence we say. Sometimes we go so off-tangent that we leave Chao and Charlene stranded in the world of the sane. haha... I have never laughed so hard around anyone before, and that's why i love the guy. Oh and also, he's a real down-to-earth, hardworking, and simple guy... There's so much i can learn from this dude.

The 4 of us constantly meet up, and our usual activities include pool, watching movie, having supper (with some nice hot teh tarik) and mahjong. hahah yes yes i realise we need to expand our scope a little. Whatever it is, I LOVE THESE GUYS.

Next up: My Bitch!! hahhah That's my dog, Chloe! I love her so much. She's been with the family for about 12 years now. At first she was soooo bubbly and hyper-active. 14 babies and a truck-load of junk food later, she's turned into this lazy biatch who just lies down on the floor cos her legs can't hold her weight for long... and just refuses to go to you when you call for her. The best she'll do is walk halfway towards you, and makes you walk the other half of the distance. Worst thing, she poos all over the place to get back at you for not bringing her down for a walk. Like THAT's gonna make us wanna bring her for a walk after that. Hahha but i love her cos she gives you this warm feeling when you step into the house and she's all happy to see you (while biting a slipper. For some reason. Don't ask me why.). She loves you no matter how many times you scold her, beat her, or are mad at her. Alas, mankind, that's something we can all learn.

Las personas especial en mi viva...(part 1)

Pardon my chinese in the title. Haha. This entry is dedicated to the people who mean alot to me. And when i say alot, i mean, A LOT. not like, oh cos they've helped me do my homework once before. I mean, w/o them, my life would be that much more miserable.

In no order of merit, here are the people in my life:

My girlfriend, Shermeen Tan. Love of my life. In case you find her familiar, yeap she's the one who appeared on newspapers for her cafe/bar, "frujch", that she jointly opened in SMU. I always hang out at her bar. it's a Great place. nice ambience, loads of games, comfy sofas, delicious snacks (esp milkshakes. "her milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.." hhahaha)... ahhhh. The recipes of relaxation. I'm not promoting for her, really. cross my heart and hope to excrete razor blades. OUCH
Anyway... she makes my life complete. It's been 1 year and 3 months already, and we're still madly in love. She's the kinda person who you meet, and you never thought anyone could make you smile so much. She has this bubbliness in her that endears to people. Well aren't i glad she's mine. hahaha.

Then there's my parents! Of course they're important to me. While there are loads of stuff i can't stand about them, i love them truly. My dad, 60 years old... humorous, outgoing and generous. He's your typical man. Egoistic, profanity-loaded, techy, only-like-action-movies kinda man. He won't be caught dead admiring a piece of Picasso Art, that's for sure. Haha but as a Dad, he's great. He's given me a lot of freedom to do what i want cos he trusts me. Either that or he's too lazy to bother. Hahaha.

My mum, 58 years old. Can't believe it right? When i tell people her real age, their jaws drop. She looks like she's in her early 40s. hhaha she's time-defying. She dresses funkily, and her hairstyle is like a manifest of her undying spirit. She's someone i admire so much. She's been through a lot in life, and yet she has the energy for MORE! haha Mrs Motivated. At the same time she shows concern for the family in soo many ways. what's there not to love abt her. I pity she's the only female in the family. It's kinda hard for her, cos there's no one she can share clothes with, to cook with, to girl-talk with. Well, haha i try my best, but there are somethings that only girls can do.

O'nii san, O'neh san!! haha my eldest brother, Ivan and my sister-in-law, Yuki. Well i'm gonna focus on my eldest bro. Ivan's really a great big bro. he's already 34. Huge age gap huh? but u know what, i kinda like it. It's like, he really is a BIG bro to me. He takes care of me when my parents aren't around... and all that. When i mean 'take care', i mean he brings me out to play bowling at 1 am in the morn, and play pool late at night too... haha he teaches me all the vices. And he is also some sort of my fashion guru. He's the sort who would look good in anything. haha. but what i love most about him is that he brings so much laughter with him whenever he's around. He's a real joker, and always tries to lighten up everyone's moods. What a guy.

That's my second bro, Justin, and his girlfriend, Sheryl. What fascinates me about Justin is that he is really street smart. Where to get cheapest home appliances, where to get good cars and stuff like that. Even in getting things done, he is swift and decisive. (geez that sounded like a tagline for SAF or something). He is also a joker, nonetheless. Well kinda think of it, i have a very funny family. hahaha. see? i'm laughing already! hahah i admire Justin cos he's really smart (contrary to what his secondary and tertiary grades depict) and he's also very cute.. (as you can see from his distorted face in the picture) and he seems much younger than 32 years old!
Oh on a side note, my brothers were never this nice to me as they are now. When i was little, they would use me as a victim of their wrestling-moves experiments. Hahah!

20 seconds of fame...

I ended off the day with a preview of the upcoming StageIt annual production "Lao Jiu", where i am acting as an Ah beng! Haha hilarious i tell you. It's the first time ever i took part in an annual production in which I have no lines!! And no, my war cry in my scene before i 'attack' Jeremy is not considered saying anything. It's just... noise. hahaha. What exactly do i have to do? Walk in stage with a metal stool in hand, stare at jeremy, smoke an imaginary cigarette, blow out imaginary smoke, size up jeremy, and then attempt to attack him (with war cry) before escaping from the police. Haha what can i say? I am destined for great things. Hahhaah

So as you can probably guess from the title of this entry how long i was on stage for. Yup. A good, solid 20 seconds or so. Haha! That's 20 seconds too long, if you ask me. The stage and the limelight should be focused on the hardworking, brilliant main cast. I must admit, they really are a cosy, noisy, and united bunch... i'm glad it's turning out this way. Cos really in the end, it's the friendships that matter most.

Special kudos to Louis and Tabby who have worked tirelessly, and facing pressures from all angles to come up with a solid play. That they will achieve. I'm certain. And i also reserved some praises to a specific few in the cast too!

Diana: Brilliant. Nothing less. you have convinced me with your role as the mother of Lao Jiu. Don't bother what cheryl said about you not having enough love for lao jiu.

John Lim: you were born to be act as a taxi-driver, i swear. Haha excellent job.

Chloe: You're just ADORABLE. hahaha but that's my opinion.

Jeremy and Jason: Dang, God only knows what kinda pressure you go through. I don't know how you guys do it, but well done!

And of course each and every single member in the cast put in their best, and they actually did well! So proud of them. More than all that, i feel... i feel re-connected with them somehow. It's still my regret that i wasn't able to stay in the main cast... But i'm glad that at least i'm with them now.

We're moving into the final week before the performance... well, I'd suggest to them to buckle up their seatbelts... cos it's gonna be the ride of their lives.

Hey riddle of the day: How does a skeleton make music?

The deflation of an ego...

Everybody has an ego, like it or not. Yes, even you too, girls! Otherwise why would you girls spend so many hours in front of the mirror, applying make-up, finding clothes to match... ya-da ya-da...

But anyway, down to my story. I intended this entry to be more about myself and those around me, however i didn't have the time to sort out my photos yet. but it will be up soon. sorry!

So i was gyming in school today... cos i needa train up for my imminent IPPT (physical fitness test). I had been pretty happy with my progress so far... realised that my stamina is increasing, my abdomens are taking up some sorta shape, arms getting stronger etc.

Till i walked into the changing room.

These 2 bronze-coloured, (girls don't get too excited), good-looking (hang in there girls)

& muscular (uh oh we lost you) guys were half-naked, and talking to each other... Man. They look sooo good. (Hey i'm straight, in case ure wondering) I looked at my own body thru the reflection on the mirror...

And then i felt it. Something in me burst. Starts with an "e", and ends with a "go". how i wish i could be like them. It would make me feel good (and probably my gf too. hahaha sorry honey!).

And what's more? they were sayng things like this:

Guy A: Hey man let's go for a run... we'll jog from school, to clarke quay, then to kallang sea sports centre...

Guy B: (indifferently) Sure.

Guy A: I was running that route earlier today and it was pretty fine...

I mean, WHUDDDD.... Geez. I'd collapse if i ran that distance, much less TWICE! Siao! How i wish one day... i can say those kinda words too... Maybe go up to someone and say: "hey how about we jog from Choa Chu Kang to Tampines? Yeah? Cool. Let's get ready and put on our 20kg weights around our ankles. I'll race you."

A guy walks into a blog one day...

*Inhales deeply* Ahhhhhhh... fresh blogerrific air!! Yes yes I have finally jumped onto the bandwagon of blogging! Once upon a time, i wondered what made people wanna blog? Why would you want the whole world know what your life is about?? Well i guess i'll never know till i actually try it myself! So... ta-da!

What inspired me to write this blog? well first and foremost, at this current time i'm taking a course called Social Media and Communication across Asia. it's about Blogs and wikis... after reading soooo much abt it, i decided to immerse myself into this phenomenon! 2ndly, i also want to use this as a space for my friends to be updated with my life, and for me to updated with theirs. Recently, free-time is scarcer for me than the pimples on my face... so i hardly have time to meet up with my dear friends. (I will post an official apology to those i've missed and have not been able to meet up with soon...)

Well... *another deep breathe*... here it begins! I hope that i'll find this an exciting journey... and i'm glad you're a part of it... =) Oh do forgive me, i'm quite a bad writer. Unlike my girlfriend. heh. But here comes the cheesy over-used line: I'll do my best... hehe.
