Goodbye 2007, Hello 2008!

Well well... here we are... finally, it's 2008! what a year it has been for 2007... I've been through quite a lot during the year. It wasn't my favourite year, but it's one to be remembered, still.

My new year's countdown wasn't spectacular. I don't really like crowds anyway. So after having dinner with my parents and their friends at Jurong Country Club, i went back home to play wii with malik and chao (again)... hahaha. It was a nice, cosy, funny session. We turned on the TV just before midnight to see the countdown... and after it was done, one of the hosts was in the crowd asking the people about their resolutions. One particular guy made a fool of himself. this is how it went:

Host: alright i'm here with some crazy people in the crowd. let me ask them... (turns to person next to him) so what are your new year resolutions?

Guy A: Mohammad Rahimi here!

Host: Sorry?

Guy A: Mohammad Rahimi here!

Host: Alright, cool! (turns to someone else) so what are YOur resolutions for the new year?

...
Hahahahaha how embarrasing!!! gosh i wouldn't wanna be in his shoes. hahaha what a way to start the new year! Anywayssss so yeah i was thinking about my new year resolutions. There are quite a few i wanna accomplish in 2008...

1) Save the Earth: Now i know global warning and climate change are the 2 most over-used terms of the year.... but it's a serious matter. more serious than the hollywood scriptwriters' guild protests that resulted in a premature conclusion of Heroes season 2.

So here's what i'm gonna do to play my part.
I'm gonna use the re-usable bags when i go grocery shopping. if u think about it, how many plastic bags are used by just one trip to the supermarket? 5, maybe? then the next time u go there u use another 5. Why not just use one re-usable bag? If everyone uses it, it would be a HUGE benefit to the environment.

Next i'm gonna reduce the usage of my air-conditioning. I'm an addict to sleeping with the air-con switched on. So i'm gonna change. I'm only gonna switch it on if it's just too darn warm. Also, it's proven that sleeping too often with air-conditioning is bad for your lungs. so yeah. Kill 2 stones with one bird. (?) hmmm.

2) I'm gonna start being nicer to my dog, Chloe. Looking at it, she doesn't have much longer to live. She's been coughing and having several seizures. She's been with me for 12 - 13 years. I want her final moments with me to be good.

3) Learn something new: like a language (preferably Japanese), musical instrument (my guitar which i regret neglecting for some time), or sport (probably wakeboarding or something cheaper)

4) Read more: Books, newspapers, magazines, comics. There's just so much to know about our world in such a short time!

5) Be a better person. Cos the only thing perfect about me, is my eyesight. Heh. Nobody can be perfect. Doesn't mean they shouldn't try. haha.
Oh well, tt's abt it. This is the year that my life will change... and i hope it's for the better! Happy new year to all my friends! love u guys much!

Wii Wish you a Merry Christmas,,,,

So Xmas day's over... I had quite a good few days leading up to Xmas day. Firstly, on sunday I finished my last gig as Santa Claus @ Junction8! Haha. It was a fulfilling and heartwarming job... really loved touching the hearts of all the little ones. You know it's a good feeling to make little kids smile, and yet NOT have full resposibility over them. Hahaha.

That's a nice little picture of my darling and her very own Santa. Haha kinda kinky thoughts coming to my mind... "come, little girl, come sit on my lap... " hahahha

Anyways on Xmas eve, Sherms and i had an interesting trip down to the shop at Sim Lim where i bought my Wii. We were there to buy the Wii remotes, and it turned out to be an ego-boosting session!

Firstly, in the cab along the way to Sim Lim, the taxi driver said that judging by the way i dressed, he thought i wasn't local... (which by any means, could be considered a compliment actually). He said i looked Korean... and he thought i was rich and assumed i stayed in landed property!! hahah

then at the shop, one of the shop assistants told me that he found my 'goatie' (which i call lip hair) sexy... hahaha and one of the bosses complimented sherms... said that i was a lucky guy. hahah indeed, indeed.

Then when i got back home, it was time to feast! As of previous years, mum would prepare some ready-made turkey and ham... and loads of dessert! We had 3 rounds of dessert! Mangoes, log cake and haagen Dazs ice cream. in that particular order. haha.

And after that, my family (minus my parents) played wii!! Hahah it was so damn fun... and it left us with sore arms thereafter. (to all my friends who have Wii, go get Mario & Sonic at the Olympics! )

Christmas Day:

This was the day we celebrated Chao's bday. i decided that it would be a cookout session! So i got malik and zhichao over to help me prepare the stuff. We had soup with
bread, some salad, sausages and pizza! haha simple enough.

Those 2 jokers piled the pizza with truckloads of cheese... and the cheese ended up spilling over the sides after it was baked. haha

Charlene bought us some shirts from her work-related trip in USA. We were worried that she got us some stupid shirt like the ones she got us from HK... that said "I'm sentimental, so treat me gentle." To our relief, there were nice Old Navy shirts. Thanks Char!
And of cos, how can we forget to cap off the night with some Wii action!!
Haha hope u enjoyed the celebration, chao! Happy Belated Birthday!!
On a side note, i realise i'm becoming addicted to the Korean Drama "Prince of Legends" Jumong... on cable channel 55. hahah it's super interesting! and i just get so tickled at how they constipated they look when they're in deep thought... ahahha

This the weekend to be busy.... falalalala lalalala

I had a very eventful saturday... it first started off at Thomson plaza. I swear it's such an 'ulu' mall. it's so hard to get there! but i was surprised at the completeness of it! they have everything there! a supermarket, furniture place, boutique stores, restaurants, even pet shops! haha

anyway back to the topic... i started off the day being Santa!! hahah so cool!! and i had to speak like him too! "Ho Ho Ho! Meeerrry Christmas!"

It was a very touching experience for me. Kids would be so happy to see me... some came up to me and asked "Santa? can i have my presents this year?" Hahaha so adorable. I just love bringing smiles to these kids...

then i had some dinner with sherms at raffles city Soup Spoon. On a cold rainy day, a bowl of warm mushroom soup can launch me to cloud 9 man... i swear. Oh and the main atrium of raffles city which was previously under renovation is finally open. very nicely done i must say. Nice layout, and good brands brought in! Now raffles city is swarming with ppl!

At night i hosted for Toni & Guy Academy's Graduation Show. It's quite an honour to be hosting for them actually. I have utmost respect for their designers. Thanks to Alina for recommending me to the academy!

Congrats to the graduates!! Shaun (only 17yr old), stephanie (only 18), Odie.... and especially Helen. She's a mother of 2... previously she was a housewife for 14yrs. I think it takes a lot of determination and strength to continue learning at that age... and guess what? She was awarded the outstanding student award! great stuff! In fact i hear it's very very stressful to be a trainee at the academy... so i salute all the graduates!

After all that, i went down to Blu Jaz at haji lane to join shermeen and nabilah... didn't like the music at first.. but there was this interesting lead singer who was sharing some kinda profound philosophy... something along the lines of "to love, you must know how to unlove"... and "eat less now so you can eat more later..." ... hahaha she could just add a tune to those words and she'd have a whole new song there.

There was this other jazz band playing at the 1st level of Blu Jaz when i went down to have some snacks... the band's called "Ayaschool and the 3 crazy guests". It consisted of a pianist, saxist, basist and a drummer/singer. Each and every one of them brilliant in their own rights. They played such lovely music and their chemistry was good! Lovely... u can catch them at Blu jaz every saturday 930pm to 1am.

That concluded my day. a wonderfully eventful day that i wouldn't want to forget. that's why i'm blogging it. hahahah.

Speaking of music, i notice that techno music is really losing its creativity. When i was hosting for the event i mentioned in my previous entry, there was this song that the DJ played and it went like this:

They know what is what
But they don't know what is what
they just strut
What the F***

Those were the ONLY lyrics of the song! Haha of course the F word was censored. But i mean, WHUD??? for the sake of coming up with a new song, they have lyrics like that? So the question is, do they know what is what or don't they? and what the hell is what??

Oh here's a lame riddle for all of ya!

Which part of the house does the sheep like most?

My Legs Scream for Help...

What a weekend! Spent both saturday and sunday hosting at Funan Mall for the launch of ELAN online, a multiplayer online Role-playing game... (gee... God knows how many times i've said that...) It was pretty alright... the best thing about it? The people. From the event planners, to the organisers - they were all very nice! Got along with them pretty well... at least i hope i did. Heh. Big hello to new friends (in no order of merit, friendliness, attractiveness, height, gender, bloodtype, dialect or preferred mode of transport): Gary, Shandy, Michelle, Melissa, Hansen, Julia, Andrew, Zoe and June!

The worst thing about the event? I had to stand for like, 8 hours each day, trying to get the attention of people walking pass... ugh. My knees almost went on strike.

Cute costumes for the cosplayers. Too bad some of them didn't fit perfectly.

During the event, one of the participants of one of the contests told me i look like Wang Li Hom, the singer. i'm like, why do ppl think that way!?!?! Some others told me that too. Really meh?!?

Just this morning (monday), i played badminton with sherms, malik and Zhichao... What a workout. Who would have known that a mere 45 minute session of badminton could make you perspire so much! All the lunges and the scurrying back and forth really gave my legs a 'run' for its money. pun fully intended. Now not only my knees hurt, my thighs and my ass muscles are sore. So sore that i feel 'sore-ry' for them. Muahahaha.

At this point, i would like to dig my nose. In addition, i'd also like to apologise to Janet... I'm so so sorry babe, for missing your bday and didn't give u any well wishes on the day itself! ARGH! i feel so bad! but hey i got present for ya! Hope to meet u up soon!!

Once again, the Japanese crack me up!

We've seen many quirky Japanese stuff... and this gameshow is definitely one of those that split my sides!! How come we don't get these kind of games in S'pore?!? sigh...

This is how 'Wii' play...

Ah hah! wonderful! the exams are finally over! The Sun of gratification and relief has once again risen, beaming its rays from the horizon! Wooohooo! Time to PARTY!! *does the can can*

The moment i walked out of the exam room on my last paper, I went off to look for Sherms. While waiting for her to have her hair done, I spent some time with my dear exchange friend, Fabienne, who was also joining sherms and I for lunch. She's flying off today. sigh. gonna miss her. Bon Voyage, babe! I'll get in touch with you when i travel to Europe!

And Sherms definitely celebrated HER end-of-term in style too! haha she got her hair dyed! Nice shades of red! I love our hair-stylist. hahah I'm also thinking of colouring my hair a little. Just don't know what colour would be suitable for me. Any ideas?

In the evening I went to Rachel's place for our scheduled SBM Wii Party! We did a project on Nintendo for the SBM course, and it was only right that we celebrated it the way we did! With a Nintendo Wii! here are some pictures and videos of the amazingly fun time we had!!

Here's a video of Rachel and Christine playing boxing on Wii Sports. Hahaha hilarious.

And here's one of us playing Wii Tennis!

HAha within 2 days i've been asked by 5 different people where from and how much i got my Wii for. I got it from Sim Lim... one of the shops on the outskirts of level 1. Gaming Industries or Games Industries or something like that. haha. I sorta know the guy there now so if you need help in buying a Wii, let me know! (PS: be prepared to pay a bit more for a modified one. heh.)

What i would tell you is that although it does cost a bit more, but in the long run, u will get many valuable returns. You can't put a price tag on the fun and laughter you share with the people you care about.
